The importance of peace and well-being is summarized beautifully by the Dalai Lama who said,
“I believe that the very purpose of life is to be happy. From the very core of our being, we desire contentment….Since we are not solely material creatures, it is a mistake to place all our hopes for happiness on external development alone. The key is to develop inner peace.” (Dalai Lama)
Life is full of stress, and the many stressful circumstances of life make it hard for people to experience happiness, contentment, and peace or well-being (wellness). Depression and anxiety are the order of the day, and it is extremely difficult to succeed while they are knocking at your door. Depression is now the number one reason for absenteeism in the work place. It is also a primary reason why people so often fall short of success. Without a sense of inner peace people will crash and burn. It is happening all around us and we often feel powerless to do anything about it. You are not powerless!
Life can be difficult but that doesn’t mean it has to get the upper hand. It is possible to succeed and enjoy your life despite the most difficult circumstances. When you experience peace or well-being (wellness) in the midst of life’s many trials and challenges, then you will be equipped to stand against the most violent storms of life. You will have the inner fortitude to succeed when others fail, and to enjoy life while others mourn the difficult nature of life and work. “Peace Optimization”™ provides strategies that will help people achieve a sense of peace and well-being despite, and during, difficult circumstances.
“Peace Optimization™” is the aspect of Human Optimization™ that deals with an individual’s personal and social existence. Peace (aka “well-being” or “wellness”) is two dimensional in that it involves a persons inner life and their relational life. Peace Optimization, therefore, provides strategies for enriching human existence by enhancing inner and relational well-being (aka “peace” or “wellness”). You will be introduced to principles that will help in the development of all aspects of peace or well-being.
Inner peace and relational peace have a dynamic and synergistic relationship. One influences the other, either positively or negatively. This means that as you experience greater inner peace then your relationships will benefit accordingly. In the same way, healthy relationships, or relational peace, will contribute to your sense of inner well-being or inner peace. While this is encouraging, the opposite is also true. When a person lacks inner peace it will impact their relationships in a negative way. And we all know that when a close relationship is strained then our sense of inner well-being or inner peace is in jeopardy.
Peace is a state of being. It is a state of well-being in all areas of life: physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and relational. When a person experiences peace they are a “well being,” or a healthy individual in all areas of their life. Peace refers to the objective reality—or the fact—of well-being, as well as the subjective state—or feelings—that accompany it. It is absolutely vital to realize that inner peace is more than a feeling. It is your actual state of being.
Peace is the foundation of success and happiness. It is the bedrock of a quality existence and the root of all personal achievement. Without peace (wellness) life is only a shadow of it’s possible glory. Peace enhances our existence and contributes to our every endeavor.
This reality is what makes peace the hub, or foundation, of Human Optimization™. An essential ingredient for achieve maximum potential is the enhancement of inner and relational peace. When peace diminishes then stress, anxiety, worry, and fear, present their ugly heads, and hinder our existence and our achievements. In other words, without peace we feel miserable and our ability to function is impaired.
Personal peace is empowering. Imagine being able to enjoy a sense of well-being regardless of your struggles, challenges, or circumstances. Nothing will ever stand in your way again. Peace is not a luxury, it is a necessity—especially in today’s stress filled world. It is the true source for success and enjoyment in life.
Peace or well-being will free you to achieve excellence in life, work, and play. You will no longer buckle under the weight of stress. Circumstances will not control your destiny. Sleepless nights filled with worry will be a thing of the past. Teams will achieve an extraordinary level of excellence and productivity. Organizations will discover new levels of achievement. Staff, employee’s, and team players—all people across the board—will discover greater levels of success as they enhance their existence by cultivating inner peace (well-being) and relational harmony.
Never underestimate the power of peace to transform people. You will be amazed by the increased level of personal and organizational success and happiness that will come from peace. Individuals, relationships, families, teams, businesses, organizations, nations, and the entire world can all benefit from the power of peace. Everyone benefits. Everyone wins.
Genuine peace, however, is tremendously elusive. It is difficult to find, and there is a lot of misinformation about how to achieve it. People spend their lives searching for peace from various sources like money, power, possessions, prestige, and entertainment. After all, that is where popular wisdom tell us we will find it. But these things inevitably and always fail to quench our longing for peace.
Peace is not found in conventional means, pop culture, or advertising agenda’s—it always amazes me how readily we believe advertising when its sole purpose is to separate us from our hard earned money. Peace is not found through external means. It comes from within.
Everything that you need to experience inner and relational peace is within your grasp. You simply need a strategy that will allow you to harness the power of peace—the “power” within. Find peace and nothing, absolutely nothing, will ever knock you off your game.
There is no success apart from personal well-being (aka “peace”). People who succeed have developed the inner fortitude to overcome the obstacles and stresses of life and business. Peace, or personal well-being, opens the door to unlimited potential. Success is not simply the result of honing your skills. its also comes from increasing personal peace.
