The term “couch potatoes” summons a myriad of images to our minds, but none of them are synonymous with success. In fact, quite the opposite is true.
Good health plays a vital role in the achievement of success. Success requires sustained consistent quality effort. Poor health will quickly eliminate success from your personal vocabulary. You may dream about it, but it will always remain out of reach. Your health will influence every area of our life. It will impact how you feel, think, and act. It will influence your attitude and energy levels. It will impact how successful you will become, and certainly how long you might enjoy your success.
“To keep the body in good health is a duty…otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.” (Buddha)
“Physical Optimization™” addresses both personal health and personal fitness—it’s hard to separate them. It is important to take care of yourself through both fitness and nutrition. Your level of health and fitness plays a vital role in your experience of peace, as well as your ability to achieve optimum performance. Thus, health and fitness are a significant part of Human Optimization™ .
We often take our health for granted. Until we loose it, that is, and realize how difficult it is to function without it. I suffer from the occasional migraine. I can say from experience that it is almost impossible to function, let alone accomplish anything, with a full blown migraine. It’s much more than simply a bad headache. There are times when all I can do is lay in a dark room thinking, “Please let me die.” If you have ever put your back out, you realize just how crippling it can be. Forget about achieving your ultimate potential. You’ll be glad to get through the day.
Our health is a gift, it is a resource that we need in order to succeed, and we don’t work nearly hard enough to sustain and improve it. If you want to cut your progress or your life short, then ignore your health and fitness. If we let our health slide, then it is only a matter of time before we crash and burn.
“…your energy level will increase, your mental acuity will improve, you will accomplish more work in less time, your self-confidence will increase…” (Gerald Paul – aka “G”)
Personal health has an impact on every area of our life. When our health is poor or our level of fitness is not good, then our emotions can go haywire, our brain power diminishes, our energy levels drop, our ability to accomplish daily tasks is hindered, and we will be unable to achieve personal goals. Every part of our life suffers when our health suffers.
Take care of yourself, and you will experience the benefit of health in everything you do: your energy level will increase, your mental acuity will improve, you will accomplish more work in less time, your self-confidence will increase, your work and your life will be far more enjoyable and profitable. Who doesn’t want all this?
With good health you will become a better and more productive person. You will accomplish far more than you ever thought possible.
